ABOUT TEMPE AZ

With a population of just under 200,000 people the city of Tempe is just east of Phoenix and is home to Arizona State University, or ASU, which is one of the largest universities in the United States.  When school is in the city is packed with students and the city’s energy is booming. Tempe has plenty of fun things to do during the day and a vibrant nightlife scene! It’s a great place for a weekend getaway or just to have some alone time. Don’t let this small town fool you – there is lots to do in Tempe!

In fields ranging from biotechnology to solar energy, Tempe is home to many research-centric industries and many knowledgeable workers those industries require. The city’s size is small and surrounded by the cities of Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, and Chandler and serves as a major hub in the Valley Metro light rail transit system.

Tempe hosts many outdoor activities. Check out Tempe Town Lake, a publicly accessible lake that is run by City of Tempe. The lake helps protect the surrounding area from flooding while also providing recreation activities to residents and tourists. Papago and South Mountain Parks offer hiking, mountain and road biking, rock climbing, disc golf, and equestrian activities.
